Best of 2018
Grantville Gazette’s Best Story of 2018 is “Requiem For the Future” by David Carrico. A lot of 1632 stories focus on what the up-timers have accomplished and inspired, how everyday men and women have risen to the occasion. David’s story reminds us that there’s another side, people who lost loved ones to the Ring of Fire (those separated by the event itself and those who have passed since then as a direct result of it), had their lives altered, and lost everything that lay outside a six-mile ring.
If you haven’t read “Requiem For the Future,” head over to Gazette 76. With tissues.
Congratulations, David!
Thanks to everyone who nominated and voted for my story.
You are most welcome David! It is one of the best stories I’ve ever read! Not just in the Ring of Fire, but of everything I’ve read.
Mr. Carrico:
I couldn’t do anything but nominate you after I read your wonderful story for the fifth or sixth time. You are a master of your trade and please keep giving us great stories. Don’t do that to our heart-strings too often though.
Your fan, Bob Patterson
